Stompy’s Playground @Union Chapel

A few weeks ago I was involved in a really exciting event at The ‘Union Chapel’ in Highbury and Islington with my electro-acoustic band ‘Stompy’s playground’ (https://www.facebook.com/stompysplaygroundmusic).

Hosted by daylight music we headlined the gig, playing alongside the wonderfully talented Quest Ensemble and Lucy Claire. Audience members weren’t exactly bopping in their pews but a lot of great feedback showed they really enjoyed it and said it was an ‘exciting new genre’.

You will be seeing us around a lot more in the near future!

I’ve played with this orchestra on a few occasions before and it offers a fantastic opportunity to see what it’s like performing and rehearsing in a professional environment.

Agora-holic

No, it’s not another form of alcoholism (that’s a post for another day!), Agora-holic is my way of trying to describe my love of open spaces. Whenever I can’t think clearly about a situation – feel stressed or anxious, a walk alone in an open environment nearly always helps (if not solves) my problem.

Living in the urban sprawl that is London, it’s sometimes easy to forget that spaces exist without a skyscraper within a mile radius. I often feel claustrophobic in the grey cooped up environment, and find it very difficult to interpret the jumble of thoughts and tasks rattling around my skull.

I’m lucky that I live in one of the greener areas of London and have the beautiful Greenwich park on my doorstep.  It might not work for everyone, (and  could just be my inner country-bumpkin straining to be let out) but it makes sense that a clear space encourages a clear mind. IMG_3594

If you’re after a particularly special breakfast dining experience then look no further than ‘The Breakfast Club’ in Spitalfields, it may significantly lighten your purse but is worth it for the rare visit.

Every component of my Mexican brunch feast, or ‘Huevos Rancheros’ as it’s known on the menu (which I had great fun trying to pronounce), was bloomin’ tasty!

Consisting of Fried eggs, tortilla with melted cheddar, refried beans, chorizo, salsa, sour cream and guacamole I was very contentedly full for the remainder of the day.

The service was top notch and the decoration quirky, fun and original.

And treat yourself to a full bellied day!
